Looking at John Winter's stability curves, I would say that Boat A has the characteristics of a wide, flat-bottomed boat with high primary stability but low secondary stability. Boat B seems to be a narrow, rounded bottom boat, that most paddlers would characterise as having high secondary stability.

Primary stability seems to be how much force it takes to heel the boat when the angle of heel is close to zero degrees. Low force values are what cause novice paddlers to describe a boat as "tippy."

Secondary stability seems to be measured by how many degrees the boat must be heeled to reach the apex of the stability curve. This is what some paddlers would describe as the "point of no return" when leaning a boat.
