Speed Speed Speed
Leo Lazauskas has made some research regarding efficient waterline length for Olympic athletes (strong guys). And he come to the conclusion that 5.2 meter is right on target. So if you are looking for speed a water line length around 5.2 meter is enough. actually less than the Patuxents 5.9 meter but they us the extra length for weight carrying.
My advise for a fast boat is. 5.2 waterline length, Skinny boat, K1 has waterline beams of 0.36-0.38 meter something above 0.40 is not terrifying (remember the K1 rule bump of 0.51 meter if you are racing according to rules)
Very important is to have a good deck design so that you can move you paddle as close to the centerline as possible
The seat must be rather high so that you can us your paddle efficient
The boat must be as light as possible (but not less than 12 kg K1 rule)
Join a racing club where you can learn good paddle teknik
Keep on racing !!!!
