Gordon - I've not built a boat before, but plan on trying a 17W Merganser by Eric Schade this winter. Just returned from the panhandle of Florida where we rented a 'Swing', plastic SOT (forgot manufacturer), and had a blast with it. I'm thinking about taking a short, wide boat (ie. Mill Creek 13), raising the floor about 4-6 inches, increasing the copit, adding drain holes (via PVC pipe), and sealing the hull. I don't know if it will work or not. By the time I get my Merganser built I should have a better idea of what might work.

If you find plans, please let me know. Thanks, Greg
