Dynamic versus static weight

I'm interested in how much the lowering of a kayak's weight will actually effect straight-line speed. In a theoretical situation with a 40 lb. boat and a 190 lb. paddler, has anyone done tests to see what the speed increase of a 10 lb. weight reduction of the boat would be? I know a lot of paddler's who obsess over their boat's weight, yet I'd wager that you'd have to be a top five percent paddler to even be aware of the difference in performance.

I am aware of course that a 10 lb. difference could significantly effect handling, if only due to the increased polar moment of inertia.
