Here are the two mailing lists you should ask

The kayak sailers mailing list: http://www.shipwrecked.com/kayak-sail/

The multihull mailing list:

http://www.MultihullBoatbuilder.com/

As for me the floats on SWIFTWOOD are a scaled up version of the CLC's SailRig:

http://www.clcboats.com/sailrig.php3?cart_id=CREATE

Basically you have to work out the displacement you need based on the heeling moment. In the case of SWIFTWOOD I have enough sail area to run it on one float, flying the kayak. So I calculated out how much the fully loaded craft wieghs and then multiplied by 2. Water wieghs 62.42 lbs per cubic foot so you can determine the displacement ( volume ) of the floats based on that. You base the gunnel hieght on how deep the hull needs to be submerged to get the required displacement.

Get Chris Whites book "The Crusing Multhull" to get more detail
