Kayak and Canoe Design Bulletin Board

Outrigger freeboard

I am building a 20' outrigger using the tape and glue technique. The bottom of the hull is strait across 85% of overall length, rounding up both fore and aft to give it rocker, the hull is a fairly deep V'. The boat will be used in bays and calm open ocean.

My question is; does anyone have experience with outriggers, in particular -- ?is there any rule of thumb for determining how high the gunels should be?
