It's definitely an interesting experience. The proprietor of the local canoe and kayak shop races canoes. He has an Epic (by Greg Barton) wing paddle for his racing kayak. He let me take it out on the river with my touring kayak. I could definitely feel the blade catch the water IF I planted it squarely.

After a 2 mile round trip, my wrists were very sore. My technique wasn't good enough to keep the blades from slipping sideways, so I was holding the shaft with a death grip to keep the blades straight. Paddling with a 22 oz. paddle was definitely cool, though! I'm glad I didn't flip and need to roll, though. :)
