: up.Yea that SeaKayaker article is one of the inspirations. Backing up scoops water up onto the back deck if you try to go fast, but I rarely try to back up all that fast anyway. Following seas performance is yet to be determined, but even with a normal stern, performance is best if you can keep ahead of the waves.
