His boats are popular with commercial fishermen, private fishermen, recreational boaters, family boaters, adventurers, etc. He has an excellent instructional book out using the stitch and glue method of constructing his boat. Two of my friends have built from his plans and book and are really happy with their boats, very seaworthy and safe.

I think his book is called "The Alaskan Skiff" You can build it with or without cabin.
I know people who cross Cook Inlet (20 plus miles of open sea with 25 foot tides and often adverse weather) in them regularly. Hope this helps.
