I think it is unlikely that anyone will get a kayak moving fast enough to create cavitation.Ventilation may be possible.
Cavitation - pressure differential sufficient to create a bubble of vacuum.
Ventilation - pulling air down from the surface.
: Hello All: I suppose I am kinda answering my own quetion now but I have been
: doing some reading on the skin friction of hulls of boats. I have found
: that if a surface is textured properly then the water cavitates due to the
: reduction in pressure in the zones of the small "pockets". The
: resulting air bubbles act as small ball bearings reducing the surface area
: in contact with the water. The theory is good but can it be done with
: conventional building techniques? Is it practical for a recreational
: paddler?
