: Hello all: I was wondering, other than producing a baby smooth surface to
: reduce frictional drag is it appropriate to apply a wax, similar to that
: used on a surfboard, that would decrease the skin friction on the wetted
: surface.: Al thoughts are welcome,
A "baby smooth" surface is not necessarily the fastest surface. I've read that a "hairy" or slighly textured surface can actually have less drag. As long and you don't have any gross defects in the surface, I doubt that waxing will produce more than a psychological advantage.
