Mike,

If no one has experience on a SOF with a neoprene hatch cover, and having a way to get to all that space more easily is their desire, building one seems like a reasonable idea.

I do not know if wild surf conditions will pull neoprene hatch covers off or not. I doubt (opinion) that most of the conditions we usually encounter will. I will go so far as to doubt that the neoprene will pop off in surf any easier than the sprayskirt. Unfortunately, a hatch cover can not be reattached on the water as easily as a sprayskirt. There is one way to find out. (experience)

If someone shares real experience, we will all gain knowledge. As more knowledge is tested, our knowledge will gain more breath and depth.

BTW, I would always recommend using floatation bags, regardless of instalation of hatches!

So, who'll be first?

As to holding down hard lids over the neoprene... I was thinking of straps. So how does the strap get held down... internal bungies, bolts, buckles, greenland leather straps with spreaders, all come to mind.

Sorry guys, the day has been long and I am getting a little testy. :\
