: modify the deck into a washboard deck.I got the Puffin Swift last week. I tried it witout deck at first. I was feeling like in my canoe, if it was not for the lack of knee connection to control the kayak.
My second try was with the deck on. Since the hole is biggish, i was alright too. The kayak does not seem very fast. I think my 13 feet rivier kayak was faster but i will check this carefully with my GPS.
I remove the standard inflatable seat (back seat was pushing up on my pfd). I built a backbend and attach it and install a plywood seat (like on the Yost Sonnet). Will need to try it. I will think about knee strap or something to push against (the deck is only velcroed and flexible so it is not great fro bracing.
: Next year, i may build a modified Sonnet to have 2 folding kayaks.
I hope (if i have time on hand) to built a Sonnet 18 with modified deck to have a faster boat so i could let my girlfriend use the Swift.
