Hi Dale
I had thought about doing a fix at the lake but I don't think the event is going to be like years past, I think there just meeting at the beach. I've made many repairs over the years so it's no big deal to fix it, it's just the timing that stinks.
After looking close it appears that the first layer of glass is intact and I may not even end up with exposed wood. Regardless, I need epoxy to finish it off. Although I may have enough to make a waterproof patch tonight.
Your plastic bag method sounds interesting but I guess I need to see it to get how it works. I don't understand what happens to the bag between the hull and the epoxy/glass mix inside the bag.
I usually mask off the general area and create a tape dam around the damaged spot. I then make my glass patch and pour on the epoxy. the dam keeps it from dripping all over and helps add some thickness to make fairing in easier.
I still plan to be at the lake, I have a real excuse to go now, I need epoxy!
