which avoids getting that nasty framed page with the list on the left and
a post on the right. I keep that window open all the time and just hit
'refresh'. Using Konqueror. Everything has been working fine for me ...

The problems described sound as though the ISP has unconfigured the MIME
type of the html pages containing the postings so they are no longer being
sent with header 'text/html' but some other type that your browser doesn't
recognise as being one that it should render as a web page.
