Launching: Lilly's Sea Flea Launched... Success! *LINK* *Pic*

Awwww it felt soooo great to finally get that little Flea wet!!!! And what a day it was!!!! I really did not expect such a fantastic outcome. I guess I was expecting something a 7yr old could paddle around with for fun.. but instead we ended up with a fantastic little kayak that Lilly can seriously paddle along with mama..AND KEEP UP! I was thrilled!
The boat is not tippy... or atleast she was able to handle it fine. And she took to it like a duck to water.... it was amazing to watch. Either this is just a fantastic little design, or maybe she is just a little natural to kayaking.
Anyway... we launched at a swimming area, on Lake Roosevelt. After she paddled in circles for an hour or so, she was ready for Mama to get her big kayak and we went for a long paddle together.
After Lilly figured out how to paddle in a straighter path, we kicked it up a bit, and she was cruising right along with me. I am guessing she was up to 3 mph with no problem once she found her rythm. I was so impressed and thrilled.I am training to race in the Yukon River Quest Race next summer. With her having her own kayak to paddle, this will allow me to get out on the water for more training instead of dropping her off with a babysitter or something. I am thrilled!
Anyway.... I am loading a bunch of pics of the launch on webshots as we speak. I hope the dont take too long to load. Meanwhile, here is a glimpse of what we saw today.... Big smiles!!!!
And before I end this post... I need to make sure I thank everyone here for all their help!!! And a special thank you goes out to Tom Yost for all his efforts and designs. We are just so happy!!!!! Thank you!!!
