I have an 8, 10 , and 12 inch, all iron. So far, only the 8" kayaks with me. Heavy, but aluminum is expensive & I'm a cheap bugger. I'm a pretty much a minimalist backpacker. Travelling heavy in a kayak is shear luxury. Sure- throw it in.

The only time I notice the weight of my boat is launching/landing or if she is imporoery trimmed.
