By way of introduction, my name is John Caldeira and I live and kayak mostly near Dallas, Texas. I am fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful kayaking lakes that are warm much of the year, and have some great paddling friends.
After kayaking a few years, I built a stitch and glue Chesapeake Light Craft 17LT. Building that boat gave me the confidence to try a strip kayak, and I chose the Guillemot. The Guillemot is still one of my favorite boats. It is a very sexy design.
More recently I built a Redfish Spring Run, Guillemot Night Heron, an Expedition Sport designed by One Ocean Kayaks (another of my favorites!), and Cirrus LT. My current project is an Outer Island (as if I really need another kayak!), and I may build a Redbird canoe next year.
