I started kayaking in 1999 after taking an ecotour in the Keys. I bought a rec boat and kept trading up. Finally the building bug bit and I plunged into a Pygmy Tern 14. Next was Nick's S&G Night Heron. A Skin on frame will be built someday but at the moment I think a 14 Melonseed sailboat built from plans will be a better boat for my entire family to enjoy. What woman can resist a sailboat? Besides she didnt seem to approve of my 5 hour sanding sessions anymore.
I started paddling with a Greenland Paddle in 2004 and enjoy it immensely. It is less stressful on my joints and makes me feel better connected to the water. Rough water paddling is like a drug to me but living three hours from the ocean I dont get to play as often as I would like. My favorite place to paddle is off Tybee Island Georgia.
