Yes, both our kayaks have bow day hatches with "gloveboxes" that are permanently bonded to the deck interior. Screw-out lids are a pain. Get anything in the threads and they stick. I used to carry a plastic tool to open them. I stopped using them years ago. The Atka baidarka has a quarter-turn plastic lid. The threads are very open and more forgiving. Even better, the Panthera has a KajakSport 150 round rubber lid. After sealing, neither one leak on the water.

After using bow day hatches I would never go back to ones mounted aft of the cockpit. They are so much more user friendly. That's just me. Some people can't stand having the "glovebox" between their legs. I only notice it occasionally during entry.
