I'm not really sure how to sharpen that tiny blade in the miniature shoulder plane though, so any advise on that will be appreciated.

Me either. I honed the back and sharpened the bevel by hand. Probably need to make a simple holder.

After I showed up for a week of 'lutherie' with a small plane that wasn't well-sharpened, Brian Burns taught me that an off-stone guide (like the old General ones) works better for small blades. The Eclipse knockoffs (and 'upgraded knockoffs' - like the Veritas) that I've used can't handle very short blades at the common bevel angles.
