top factors are:

1) efficient cruising speed....to be able to stay with the group
2) light weight
3) good looking

she uses a European style paddle

i don't mind a build challenge. i have several strips under my belt.

a boat that i thought was nice and pretty was a pygmy selkie or freya...but want a strip-built to optimize looks and keep the weight down. to your point, they have nice low decks in the aft cockpit area.
