I don't glue my seats down. I always use a cockpit cover when I'm transporting the kayaks, have never lost a thing if it's covered.

If you one time leave a kayak on the roof of a car and get a big rain storm, you won't ever forget the cover again. I did it at work one night and only had a Styrofoam coffee cup to bail it in the morning, after an hour or so standing on the door sill bailing and offering choice words the lesson has sunk in.
