Yes- it's safer, too. But it doesn't work as fast, and in a commercial shop the extra step of bleaching already adds time, then there's the sitting in the shop drying out before you can finish it.

Caustic soda burns. No matter how careful you are about where you get it, it always ends up on something that touches skin.
