If you run the deck lines from end to end, past the cockpit, you don't need so many knots, and the knot/adjustment can be on the back deck.
OK - that's what I initially thought you meant.
Whether you can run the lines past the cockpit depends on the shape of the boat. In a beamy fish-form boat, it's tough to keep the lines from getting under the coaming if you run them continuously. If the mid-section of the boat has a fairly stright sheer, it's easier.
Not sure I'm following this exactly. I spent some time on The Google trying to find examples of deck rigging - hard to find, and pics are really small. On the commercial boats, it looks like they're splitting the rigging into bow and stern sections so they can use a single length of bungee in each, lacing it through the padeyes.
Given all you've said, seems like a really simple, straightforward approach would be to get a 30-foot (or whatever) length of rope, have it spliced together into a big loop, and then simply attach it to the deck using webbing loops (doubles) about every 16 inches along the sheer line. No knots. Then (as you described) attach a length of rope at the bow like a bridle to use as a tensioner. Inner loop of each webbing fastener would then be used for lacing bungee hold downs, as shown in Dan's pic.
Any reason this wouldn't work?
