It is darker over the frame contact points because the varnish makes the skin translucent. The frame is not translucent, so where the frame is behind the fabric, it will be darker. It is concentrated and even darker in some places on the frame because there is more varnish in the skin in those spots. The more varnish in the skin, the more translucent it is, like wetting out fiberglass cloth.
