Still have to remember that the wood on a stripper kayak is mostly just a core for the fiberglass skins. It's not structural in the sense it would be in a boat built only in wood. The idea is to make a seamless core, it's not required to have the ultimate of strength like a conventional wood scarf would need, the scarf is used mostly to make the joint disappear visually.

You are definitely over thinking this.

Bill, I appreciate that you probably aren't intentionally trying to piss me off, but I have to say that this REALLY pushes my buttons. (on top of Marc doing the exact same thing, to which I'd taken a deep breath and responded VERY politely to)

If you want to correct something I wrote - please do, by all means. If you want to continually repeat back what I said, declaring "No, it's not X, it's X!" well, no harm done I guess although it as a bit irritating. What I find truly annoying, though, is the false correction with the personal insult - "It's not x it's x you're overthinking!"

I'm not really sure how making a decision about the right glue to use would be "over thinking." What's the right approach, then, walk into Home Depot, find a guy with an apron, and grunt "Gimme Sticky Stuff! Need Sticky Stuff!"??

Here's the thing - the original poster ASKED A QUESTION. He asked if he should use CA glue on scarf joints. I chose to give him a THOROUGH ANSWER in the spirit of "giving back" to this forum that has been very helpful to me. No one has suggested anything I wrote was wrong - you've actually re-stated it - so I guess the problem is just that I answered the question thoroughly, going through the two types of joints and the three types of glue that would be pertinent? Why is that a problem for you?
