Off season, us in fresh water places have these, I just deflate the float bags and leave them in place with the hatches popped open so everything stays dry.

You can use pour in place foam, just stuff in a poly bag first then pour the foam into it. Then it can be slid out of the ends to allow everything to dry and provides an extra layer of protection to keep water out of the foam. As mentioned it's not really needed.

If you learn to roll the kayak, none of this is needed.
