Four years ago, I built an Outer Island. I decided to build it at 95% of design LENGTH, and made the necessary adjustment for form spacing on the strongback. The kayak came out good. I saved the forms, and built 3 other yaks in the meantime.
The bow & stern forms can only be used once for an O.I, since part of them ends up as part of the boat. I asked Jay for a new copy of the bow & stern forms, and he kindly sent me a PDF file, which I had printed at a copy shop, "actual" size. It looks right. Forms #2 an #16 get attached to the bow and stern forms. Those forms look like they are slightly smaller than they should be.
The problem is that I can't remember, for the life of me, whether I used the original paper forms, or had them copied at 95%. I THINK I would have remembered bringing those big sheets of paper with multiple forms printed on them, to the copy shop (and wondering how they were going to do it) but this is four years ago. I also don't have the bordering leftover paper from the forms sheet.
I need to find something on the forms (3 thru 15) that measures "exactly something" and measure it. Does anyone have O.I. forms to measure some significantly long dimension, such as the sheer line of form #9, for comparison? For example, if you get 22', and I get 20.9", I'll know that I had copied them at 95%. Thanks for any ideas-I might be overlooking a simple answer.
