Strip: Weight Saving

I am well into the strip build of a boat for my 8 yr old grandson and am trying to minimise the weight so he can manhandle it on his own.
On the boats I built for my two sons and myself, I added fill coats on the inside of the hull and deck.
Will there be any significant loss of strength if I don't fill the weave on the inside of this build.
I have added an extra lyer of glass in the bottom, from the foor rests to the back of the seat area and will add some extra reinforcing stips
under the deck fore and aft of the coming.
