Kurt,

A wood strip kayak even with cove and bead still requires the epoxy/glass for it's strength.

A strip planked boat on the other hand is perfectly strong enough, due to the thickness of the wood, without the glass.

Our kayaks are basically fiberglass kayaks with a pretty wood core, while a strip planked boat if it has glass is only for water proofing.
