Thanks Nick, and Rob for his reply as well. It's funny how I never gave it a thought until a question from a semi-knowledgeable "outsider" happened to hit me just right. Not that it's terribly important, but I remember being surprised at the title of Nick's new book back when it first appeared, and it's nice to learn why/how it came about now.

I can see where "Building Strip-Built Boats" sounds clunky. "How To Build Strippers" or "How To Build Stripper Boats" doesn't quite get the job done. I always liked the term "cedar strip boats" as particularly descriptive, but it inaccurately limits the technique to a single species of wood. Might also be confused with the classic Old Town type strip and rib beauties I guess, although it's a weak sounding reason.

The thought exercise of how to settle the book title dispute between Mr. Schade and Mr. Editor might keep me occupied while I spend an hour of two preparing a cedar strip canoe for fresh varnish (winter's coming, the season for canoes because I don't get wet).
