Sean,

I am 5'9" and 250#.
I've been in the Yost 15' Sea Tour EXP and found no issue for weight.
I am 65 and stiff and do find an issue with getting my knees in the cockpit.
It worked better for me to raise the fwd cockpit frame for more clearance while entering.

I also built a 17' which was narrowed to 22" and didn't find an issue with my weight. Again I raised the fwd edge of the cockpit.
A standard 17' exp should hold your weight easily.
