I found that it went OK with a single piece of glass, although I used 4 ounce.

It's a bit hard to describe, but the key is to have the glass loose enough over the cockpit opening, and definitely start at the recess, then work backwards and forwards from there.

Actually I had more trouble on the sides next to the front of the cockpit than at the recess back.
