Consider s-glass rather than carbon fiber. Carbon fiber has the problems mentioned by Bill. 4 oz s-glass on the inside laid on the bias will be more than strong enough and lighter if not vacuum bagged. Much cheaper also. I threw my Guillemot L off my car at 65 mph and after a few repairs it has been used many times and in fine shape.
