Mark, my first aircraft build was 4000 hrs. My last completed build was 3100 hrs. Point being that, even with experience, building a plane is a monumental task. I do not consider the time spent building as "long." I consider the time spent as an enjoyable education - and when completed - a great feeling of accomplishment :)
I am hoping the enjoyment of being able to tack myself back across the lake will equal the feeling of ending up upright after my first kayak roll or the tire squeak of the first landing :)
