"There is really no such thing as a boat suitable for a particular of water body."

I disagree with that statement and that is way I bothered to respond. How much broader a statement could you have made? Your intent was not at all clear given your later responses.

In the wrong hands, the "perfect" boat is still not suitable. A good boat by itself is not good enough. Only with knowledge and skill does it become good.

I also say things like "There is no such thing as a fast kayak, only fast paddlers."

Kayaks are highly personal. Their performance is completely dependent on the user. I come across people who think that if they buy the right kayak they will become good kayakers. I am trying to turn the thinking around. The kayak is a tool that you must learn to use. This takes time and dedication. A dull Lie Nielsen plane in the hands of a newbie will not produce the same results as a sharp hardware store plane in the hands of an expert. The Lie Nielsen is immediately recognizable as better to the expert, but being better does not mean it works better by itself.

You can not buy your way to safety and speed. You need to prepare yourself to take advantage of the qualities of the kayak. If you have the skill, even a bad boat may be safe and usable.
