Hi Marc

Late reply, but for what it is worth, I found a length of (well seasoned) framing timber worked just fine.

I put it on stands for a couple of weeks with a string along it to see if it changed shape. It didn't. I planed it flat. It had a warp sideways but that was ok, I just over cut the holes in the forms and attached them to bits of timber screwed to the strongback.

Lining up the forms was easy using the lines printed on them and a string tight along the strongback.
