I use pigments made for use with gel coat and epoxy from Jamestown Distributors frequently while making repairs to manufactured canoes and kayaks. Just a few drops can be very effective in tinting epoxy.
But it may take more than one coat (usually three coats) to change the color of what you are coating. So, if I were going to tint the bottom of a kayak I was going to epoxy, I would use pigment in the mix of each coat and not wait until the last coat.
