I actually have a tool belt that I started wearing when I worked in a commercial cabinet shop. It has a pocket for my tape, a pouch for my block plane, and a holster for my drill. I don't use the drill when I'm building kayaks, but the other two are handy. The thing I have a problem with is... Pencils. Some days you have positive pencil days, where the little pocket on the side of your Carhartts ends up full of pencils, some days you have negative pencil days, where you have to look around every time you need a pencil and despite the fact that every other time you go to Office Box Store you buy a pack of pencils for the shop you can never find one.. At least the tape I'm using now has a pencil sharpener built into the case so I don't have to sharpen them with my plane any more. It works fine, but it tends to leave graphite streaks on the sole that get transferred to light colored work pieces...
