I did leave an extra two inches at the front of the cockpit, in case I need to move the seat forward, but I don't think it will be necessary.

It would be an interesting experiment to see how much weight you'd need in front of the forward bulkhead to get the boat to trim to the designed waterline. Take some water jugs next time you are near the shore?

About the 'heavy legs' idea: Does anybody have data on the percent of body weight transferred to the heels of a typical paddler? (Since weight is only 'transferred' into the boat through your butt and heels.)
