Other: backyard builders

I am new to building wood kayaks and I find it very rewarding and challenging. I love being on the water. So this seems to be a good hobby for
me.

What about the guys that have been doing this a long time. Do you see boat building as a dying breed. Kinda like furniture making? Or is there more backyard builders out there than in the past.

I lived on lake Erie my whole life and can't recall seeing these types of kayaks, maybe its just because i was not looking.

Just rambling on
