To add one step further: I have also used ratchet straps and I put a block of wood under the strap at the top edge of the hull which pulls it in there. I just use fiberglass tape and I found if it pull down hard from the deck on to the hull seam, the friction holds it in place very well. Make sure you wash the deck surface and hull edge so there's no blush so the tape sticks well.
