You might try stitch and glue. I did with my Great Auk 14. Just a few minor holes in the deck and hull that can be fixed later. Lot easier than trying to force the hull with sticks. Once you get them lined up, just epoxy the seam and then cut and pull the wire. Use soldering iron on the wire if it doesn't come out easily.
