Use thickened epoxy. if you use slow hardener it will allow you better open time than TITEBOND, and you will be forever confident of the join.

If you are efficient about it you can avoid keying for the bond too. Just prepare everything so that you can glue on the deck directly after you have applied the final seal coat to all the insides and you will have a perfect chemical bond.
