Ever seen a cedar swamp? I think I might be concerned about tanins leeched out of the wood....
I agree not using a pvc fencepost (who knows what is made of), but real pvc pressure pipe (not DWV pipe) should be okay, if very expensive.. As for the AP design, its ehhh. I think there are far better ones out there.
