My wife has enjoyed kayaking for a few years but did not understand my desire to build one. I explained that any kind of idiot can go to a store and buy a kayak. Her reply - "But it takes a special kind of idiot to build one in the garage?" Once I completed my first (CH17LT) and let her paddle it, she understood. She was super excited during construction of her 16LT and has not been in a plastic boat since. Our Shearwater Double is her new favorite because it has a motor in the back (me). Once I complete my current build, I am going to build a short recreational strip boat like the Auk 14 for her.
