One thing to remember, the biggest sticking point with folding kayaks up to now other than the time to set up, is the price. There have been some really interesting ideas on the market that went no where because they were just too expensive.

If the price can be competitive with conventional production boats you might have a market. There really isn't a market that I've seen for a $4 - 5k boat.

Yes I completely agree, a market review and feedback points to this. A large part of the reason is complexity in terms of engineering and a multitude of components. I am attempting to get around this experimenting with materials not normally associated with kayak builds, flexible material with memory that can be tensioned and really trying to minimize components and tooling. Thanks for your advice.
