Strip: Two questions about bungees og glass

I am building a Nomad by Björn Thomasson and now it is time to figure out where to put the deck lines.
Many people put a cross of bungees just behind the cockpit. The Nomad is quite long (5.8m), so I have some space between the cockpit and the rear hatch. So I am considering putting two bungee crosses here. Has anyone done that? Or is there any good reason not to do it?
I know that it's not a good idea to store too much gear on the deck. But I only intend to use the bungees for lighter items, such as my foam paddle float, pump and maybe a jacket.

Another question: It is also time to make some of the smaller outfitting parts, like toggles, hatch retaining parts, foot pedals and so on. Should I cover these parts completely in glass (and epoxy) or is it enough to use epoxy alone. Or maybe just glass and the major surfaces. It seems difficult to make the glass stick to the thin edges.
