It is about time for me to re-varnish my 2 Pygmy Kayaks. What sort of sanding prep is best? Do I need to remove all old varnish? If so, how do I tell when that is accomplished? I would guess that you cannot tell when all old varnish is gone, which would mean sanding into epoxy. So I suspect that removing all is not necessary.
